How does it work?
For those who have not seen a Psychologist before, they might be scared or worried about what happens in session. Most of the things that you are worried about aren't likely to happen! Generally, the first session is for your therapist to get to know you, including what your main concerns are at the moment. Its also an opportunity to talk with the therapist about how you like to talk about things, and the ways that you think the therapist can help. You can then work together on a plan to work with the concerns. For some people, they may only need to be seen a couple of times, but sometimes, people may come along for several sessions. Sessions usually last for up to an 1hr.

The therapy space is confidential, with only you and therapist knowing what happens in the room. The therapist will keep notes, but these are just for their records, and the exceptions to this being if there is concerns about your safety and a couple of other exceptions that the therapist will discuss with you further when you meet.

Below are all of the documents that you will need to complete when you attend your first appointment. To save time, you can print them out and bring them to the first session! They also explain all of the limits of confidentiality and the therapy process, so if you have any questions you can contact us to make it a little clearer.
